I actually tend to prefer coffee dates to any other type of date. The best way to see if you have chemistry is to be in a situation where the focus is each other: can you have a conversation? Are you good at eye contact together? Are you interested in finding out about each other? Plus it can be a short hour if you just don't hit it off, or you can drag it out as many hours as you like. It's cheap, no pressure.

* This past week I went on a date with a guy who made an extremely bad impression on me. In the beginning, I thought I would give him a chance since he was extremely eager to date me and it had been such a long time since I dated someone that I was willing to forego certain warning signs to give this guy the chance he deserves. We met up at Chelsea Market in the city, and grabbing tea and dessert, we sat down for a two hour talk that really went from getting to know each other better to intense bickering and extreme dislike on my part.

I don't see such an emphasis on looks here. Physical looks are a relatively small subset of issues posted about on this subforum. What % of "looks" threads would you expect there to be reasonably on a dating forum? There are plenty of looks issues here, but compared to elsewhere, I don't find LS to be a particularly looks obsessed place.
